Forestry Museum in Penang is located on an area of 700 sq. meters and its
construction started on 1976 and it opened to the public on 5 May 1983. Located
on Telok Bahang, the 100-acre beautifully Landscaped park in Forestry Museum is
the home of numerous flowering plants, ferns, insects, birds, butterflies,
snakes and lizards. The recreation park comprises of a number of freshwater
pools, footpaths, rest shelters and a children's playground.
The Forestry Museum also has a vast collection of tropical timbers and their
products. The objective of the Forestry Museum in Penang comprises of the
following:
- Providing guidance to visitors to understand the contribution of forestry.
- Guiding visitors to identify the role of forest.
- Educating the visitors regarding functions and contributions of forestry
through the display exhibits.
- Serving as a source of reference in science, history and art, for school

The Forestry Museum has no admission charges and it is open 7 days a week from
9.00 am to 5.00 pm and on Friday it is open from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon, 2.45 pm
to 5.00 pm.
Getting There
From Penang International Airport, you can either rent a car or take the cab
straight away to the Gardens. Distance from Georgetown to the Garden is 15 km,
You can take bus No. 93 from Georgetown to Telok Bahang, from Telok Bahang to
Forestry Park bus No. 76.
