The bus terminal at Penang Sentral has taken over as the central bus station, replacing the Butterworth Bus Terminal. It handles all Rapid and Express buses, providing convenient connectivity. With connections to the Sultan Abdul Halim Ferry Terminal and Butterworth Rail Station, Penang Sentral serves as a convenient transit point for train and ferry passengers. Access to the station can be obtained by taking a taxi from various locations in Penang, alighting at the entrance on Level 3, or using KTM, ferry, or Rapid buses that stop at Penang Sentral.

The station consists of nine levels, encompassing entry and exit points, food courts, shopping areas, and parking facilities.

Penang Sentral Bus Terminal offers a range of amenities and facilities to enhance passenger convenience. Washrooms are available on each floor, with separate facilities for men, women, and individuals with disabilities. Additionally, there is a dedicated baby room located on Level 2.

For those in need, Penang Sentral Bus Terminal provides wheelchair and baby stroller loans, which can be rented from the Information Counters on Level 2 or Level 3.

Level 1 houses the Penang Sentral bus terminal, serving as the arrival and departure point for buses. Level 2 accommodates ticketing counters and provides connecting links to the ferry and KTM train station.

Level 3 features the main entrance and drop-off area for taxis. At the time of writing, Levels 4 and 5 are closed, while Levels 6 to 9 are designated for car parking. The station layout is designed to be user-friendly, with directional signboards placed strategically for easy navigation. LCD screens provide information on bus and ferry timings.
