Train to Penang

Penang does not have a train station on the island itself. However, there is
a train service available from mainland Malaysia (Butterworth) to Penang. The
train journey starts from various locations in Malaysia, such as Kuala Lumpur or
Hat Yai (in Thailand), and terminates at Butterworth Station. The Station is
directly connected to the Malaysian railway network. It serves as a railway
station for both the Electric Train Service (ETS) and Intercity trains,
providing convenient access to major cities in Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur,
Ipoh, and Johor Bahru.
From Butterworth,
you can take a ferry or use the Penang Bridge to reach the island of Penang.
If you are planning to travel to Penang by train, you would need to book a train
ticket to Butterworth Station and then arrange for transportation to cross over
to Penang Island. The train journey can be a scenic and enjoyable experience,
offering beautiful views of the Malaysian countryside.
It's worth noting that the train schedule, availability, and routes may vary, so
it's recommended to check with the Malaysian railway authorities (KTM) or visit
their official website for the most up-to-date information on train services to
Penang.
