Queensbay Mall

Queensbay Mall, located in Bayan Lepas, stands as the largest and most
expansive shopping mall on Penang Island. It welcomed its first customers on 1
December 2006. With a substantial gross built-up area of 2.5 million square feet
and a total net lettable area of 1 million square feet, this nine-storey mall
boasts five floors of shopping space housing 500 outlets, along with eight
floors dedicated to parking.
The prominent anchor tenant at Queensbay Mall is Aeon, formerly known as Jusco,
which established its inaugural Penang outlet within the mall. Occupying
approximately 25% of the net lettable retail space, or 255,000 square feet, the
Aeon store offers a wide range of products. Another notable tenant is the
renowned American bookstore chain, Borders, which also launched its first Penang
outlet at Queensbay Mall. Visitors can explore an array of popular brands such
as Guess, Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, and more. Starbucks has both a standalone
store in the North Zone and another within Borders in the South Zone.
Additionally, you can find well-known establishments like Giordano, Subway,
Popular Bookstore, The Chicken Rice Shop, GNC, and numerous others.
Queensbay Mall succeeded the stalled Bayan Bay Megamall, a joint venture between
Bayan Bay Development and the Penang Development Corporation. Construction of
Bayan Bay Megamall was halted in 1998 during the Asian Financial Crisis, despite
being 60% complete at the time. However, CP Mall Sdn Bhd revived the project in
June 2005, committing to its completion by July 2007. Remarkably, CP Mall
successfully revived and completed the project, and Queensbay Mall opened its
doors to customers on 1 December 2006.
A diverse selection of eateries awaits visitors at Queensbay Mall, including
popular chains such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Dave's Deli, Kenny Roger's
Roasters, Sakae Sushi, Sushi King, Little Nyonya, TGI Fridays, KFC, and more.
