Quay.
One of the notable attractions at Straits Quay is the second Royal Selangor
Visitor Centre in Malaysia, along with a performing arts centre. The performing
arts centre, managed by The Actors Studio, occupies 22,000 square feet of space
within the mall. It boasts two theatres with seating capacities of 150 and 300,
providing a venue for various artistic performances.
Although the design of the multi-storey car park at Straits Quay has received
criticism, with narrow ramps and sharp corners between levels, the mall offers
the advantage of free parking. While the finishing may not compare favorably to
that of 1st Avenue Mall, the complimentary parking regardless of duration
remains a plus point for visitors.
The tenant mix at Straits Quay leans heavily towards food and beverage outlets,
particularly bistros and establishments serving alcoholic beverages. This
emphasis on dining options is likely due to the mall's target audience, catering
to the high-income bracket within the surrounding catchment area.
Getting There
To reach Straits Quay, the most practical method is currently private
transportation since there are no dedicated bus services to the mall. The
nearest bus stop along Jalan Tanjong Tokong is approximately a 15-20 minute walk
away and is served by Rapid Penang buses 101, 102, and 103.
