The Axis
The Axis Complex, also known as The Axis, is a well-established shopping
complex located on Cantonment Road in Pulau Tikus.
Constructed in the late 1980s, The Axis was developed on the former site of Sri
Intan, a drive-in eatery. Initially, the complex had Tops, a Dutch supermarket
chain, as its anchor tenant. However, Tops eventually exited the Penang market,
leading to a series of tenant changes at The Axis.
Over time, the complex transitioned through various tenants until the current
anchor tenant, Bandar Baru Supermarket, took its place. Bandar Baru Supermarket
now occupies a prominent position within The Axis Complex, providing a diverse
range of products and services to shoppers.
